Description:

This mixed-media piece blends mirror fragments, bold color, and a real Polaroid to explore the intersection of memory, presence, and identity. Inspired by my photographer boyfriend, the artwork reflects on how capturing a moment can preserve a memory yet sometimes pull us out of the present. The portrait—constructed from shattered mirror—symbolizes this tension: photographs freeze time, but mirrors only exist in the now. The bright rainbow band pays homage to the classic Polaroid aesthetic, while the real snapshot layered onto the canvas blurs the line between art and life. As light hits each broken mirror shard, the image shifts and refracts—reminding the viewer that the truest version of a moment can only be seen when you’re fully in it.
